Lisa Solomon
As I have chosen embroidery as my second option, I decided to research some contemporary artists who work with stitch and thread. Lisa Solomon is an emerging designer who creates repetitive circular patterns which are arranged in a bimolecular way. The subtle use of colour and simplicity of the work is what draws me into her work. Some colours can overshadow the work but Lisa arranges her shades in such a natural way that they complement each other. She incorporates different materials and techniques in her design, for example, she sometimes stitches on top of her drawings and prints to bring out the details and leaves the threads hanging off the design to add more personality to the work.
I personally find her work very calming and peaceful. I am a designer interested in simplicity, composition and colour which means her work is right up my street.

Simple French knots with threads hanging off to add looseness to the work.

Beautiful composition reflecting bimolecular structure.

I adore the use of colour in this work, it reminds me of a lavender farm.
