Strategies for getting from A-B

Today's lecture was based on how artists approach a project in order to create a final product. There were a lot of interesting things brought up in this talk but the one which intrigued me the most was, how artists used sketchbooks throughout time. This highly relates to me because I take great pleasure in working in my sketchbook and presenting it to other people. However, sometimes I spend more time working in my sketchbook than necessary which makes it hard to complete the work I'm supposed to be doing. Solution; from now on I'll try to only use the sketchbook for creating quick collages, sketches and jotting down ideas to show my thinking process throughout a project and limiting myself on the amount of time I spend working on each page. I am also going to retain myself from creating unnecessary backgrounds for the pages.

Layering up notes, images and writing in a sketchbook. This is a very 'chaotic' example of working whereas I prefer everything in my sketchbook to be more organised and have space around it to keep the ideas simple to understand.
Disorientating perception by collaging together bits of different photographs. This is a very attractive way of coming up with ideas. I enjoy taking photographs but never know what to do with them afterwards so I will definitely experiment with working in this way and using some of the old images to create something of intrigue.

Example from my sketchbook after the lecture.
