Colour Stripes
For yesterday's task, we were told to choose a coloured piece, mix the colours accurately and keep the stripes proportional to our selected image, as well as arranging the colours carefully. I chose my circles development piece.
When I sat down with my brushes, paint and stretched paper, I was clueless on where to start this task because my chosen image had too many colours and it was hard to select one of them to start off with. I was not sure whether I should include the black from text or not and if I do, what proportion should it be.
With all those questions in my mind, I decided to pick the first colour I see and start painting it on the sheet. After painting a few stripes, I really got into the task and picked up the pace, my aim was to finish four long stripes with different colour arrangements by the end of the day. One thing I noticed was that some people were struggling to come up with the right colours which would correspond with their image, this was where I had the advantage as my image was digitally made and the colours were much more bold and flat so I had no difficulty with getting the right shades. I really enjoyed this task because I love using colour in my work and I will definitely be using this method of capturing colour mood to inform my future work.
Digital Print combining all the ideas I have so far (wheels, texts, colours). Inspiration for the colour stripe.
