Cindy Sherman

In my poster, I added examples of Cindy Sherman's work because her work relates very well to my idea of changing identities. Cindy Sherman's photographs are portraits of herself in different scenarios that mock stereotypes of woman e.g. dressing up as a stereotypical housewife, Hollywood starlet and prostitute. I am particularly inspired by her photographs because they engage viewers to think about the concepts, leading to extensive debates and critiques. Researching her work will help move forward my own theme of changing identities because I can look at changing my own face by applying excessive amount of make up.

I found this image on web of Barbie before and after applying make up, emphasising the idea of nobody is perfect. Although I find this photograph quite humorous, I think it also demonstrates the bitter reality.
