Anamorphic Art

Revisiting all my work I've done so far in this project, I noticed that it's all very flat and two dimensional. So in order to add more depth in my work, I looked at Anamorphic Art where the artists produce distorted drawings and the real object can be seen in a cylindrical mirror. I  to be more experimental and placed a cylindrical mirror on top of the Photoshop collages. The distorted reflection of the already distorted facial features adds depth to the photos, therefore visually interesting. I like the three dimensional feel of these photographs, however, the lighting can be controlled better in order to produce more professional photographs. I want to experiment further with this newly found cylindrical mirror and create a final outcome based on my new sub-theme of distortion (which is developed from initial theme of changing identities).

My response...

I used more experimental approach to this. I first created a painting sitting in front of the cylindrical mirror. In the actual painting, I have shown my face being distorted and turned into a long stripe caused by the distorted reflection in the mirror. I then distorted the actual painting by putting the cylinder on top which produced interesting patterns. I prefer the photographs rather than the actual painting as they are more abstract and contain depth.
